Those Who Can’t Mock Vote Just Mock
Posted by Adam Graham in : Idaho Conservative, The, Presidential Race 2008Chris at the Unequivocal Nation thinks holding a National Presidential Caucus in Boise is a hoot. Of our local event, he writes:
What if you had a caucus and no one showed up?…And no, just ’cause you ask the waitress who she’d vote for does not mean that 4 people attended. Perkins this time? I guess that Chuck-A-Rama must have already been booked up.
Well, it’s kind of Chris to take notice. And he’s right, the Democratic version of the National Political Caucus is steaming. Oh what’s that, there’s not actually a Democratic version of the event? Since I announced the Republican event, no Democrat has cared to organize one, though they could have.
Those who can, do. Those who can’t, mock those who do, I guess. The count of people doesn’t actually include me for those who are wondering. And while, unlike my liberal colleague, I don’t cast aspersions on the value of waitresses participating in caucuses, I’m not going to puff the caucus with on the spot invites either.
Total, we’ll have 5 people which doesn’t sound like much, but there are caucuses about that small in Iowa. Numbers are a little hard because it’s a Friday and folks have weekend plans, Republicans have a Christmas party, and Idaho Chooses Life is hosting former Kansas Attorney General Phil Kline the same night. While, some folks could go to the Caucus which starts at 4 PM and make either event, most people can’t stand that much politics. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to choose the night.
However, believe it or not, it’s not about being BIG. It’s about learning about real deliberative Democracy, talking about issues, and having a good experience.
The good news is that there’s room for about as many folks who’d like to come and be a part of the Treasure Valley Republican Caucus. We have a lot of space in the room at Perkins and could take up to 25 more folks. So, if you can stomach eating somewhere other than French Bistros in the North End of Boise, Four Star Restaurants in Nampa, and are a Republican living in the Treasure Valley, this event is for you.
Talk about the issues that matter to you and the Presidential Candidates. Supporters of Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, John McCain, Fred Thompson, Mike Huckabee, Tom Tancredo, Duncan Hunter, Ron Paul, Alan Keyes, John Cox, and anyone else are all welcomed to come out and express their support for their candidate. The event will be held at Perkins Family Restaurant at 4PM on Friday. Register online so we’ll know you’re coming.
