Thy Will Be Done

Our Father

It is the hardest part of prayer,
It is that moment of utmost faith
To say ‘Thy Will be Done’
A thousand tremors of terror
Fill our heart
At what that Will might be,
For in Garden, it was Christ’s
Surrender to His Father’s Will
Thy Will be Done.

It is all that is truly Faith,
For without it,
The praying man is no different
Than the one who wishes upon a star,
Hoping that he might have his wish,
Yet when the sacred words are spoken,
God ceases to be our genie
And becomes our Lord.

All a man can do
Is be righteousness
And then with a simple prayer,
Leave the rest in the hands of God.
Thy will be done.
