Voting Observations

Posted by Adam Graham in : Idaho Conservative, The

Went into vote after work. Turnout at our polling place was light for an after-work crowd. We live in the 2nd Congressional District, so Bill Sali and friends aren’t on the ballot and all of our Republican Legislative Candidates are unopposed.

There was this one lady who was in line behind us who spent several minutes giving the poor poll worker a hard time. “I’m registered as a member of one party and need to change to another.” She said this about five times and I about turned around and said, “Lady, this is Idaho, we don’t have party registration!”

One sure test of whether someone knows enough about the state to vote is to ask them at the voting booth, “What party are you a registered voter for?” If they give a party, send them home. The answer is none, though they should be required to be registered, but enough with my pet peeve.

I was on the ballot today as an unopposed candidate for precinct committeeman. It felt good to cast that vote. We’d made up a voting list and I hadn’t put my race on there. I’d given my wife a hard time for voting for a race that wasn’t on the list, because the ones we hadn’t listed were unopposed races where we didn’t know anything about the people.

I asked her if she voted for me, she joked, “I did, but I shouldn’t have. It was an unopposed race that wasn’t on the list. Besides, what do I know about the candidate?”

Also in a piece of good news, that I hope portends good news for tonight, Clayton Craymer voted for Bill Sali.
