We Fought, We Dreamed, and The Dream Is Still With Us

Posted by Adam Graham in : Video Blogging

It is with some hesitation that I post this video from Ronald Reagan in 1976. Some conservatives worship Reagan as a god or demigod, who provides all that we know about politics. Others have exaggerated him into Mr. Perfect Conservative, or view the Reagan era, as the best days of American that we’ll never see again. (From all of us under 30, thanks for telling us that the World was at its best when we were 4 and will never get any better.)

Reagan, however was who he was and that was awesome enough: A fighter, a lion, a contender. He was a man of undying faith, undying optomism that kept moving forward, rather than wallowing in defeat. He had a vision of our nation freer and more prosperous, escaped from a long-running Cold War.

We face a different set of issues, but yet those of us on the Right who have fought so hard and in many cases, so nobly, let us say, “We fought, we dreamed, and the dream is still with us.” (My new tag line replacing, “That’s my thing, keeping the faith, baby.”)
