What is Going On?

Posted by Adam Graham in : Presidential Race 2008

I have to admit that I’m puzzled. We just spent the past month with people screaming for Mike Huckabee to get out of the race. Now, a stream of editorials are hitting with praise for Huckabee:

J.C. Watts misses him, The Fredericksburg Free Lance Star praises him, ditto the Sun Sentinel, and Ken Blackwell is ready to hand him the keys to the RNC (expelling Chairman Mike Duncan from his seat in mid-cycle. Not sure how that would work.)

I’ve never seen the like of it. America generally has no time for losers. The news cycle is like a tank rolling over the bodies of failed campaigns. I expected when Huckabee got out, there’d be news stories and then out of the news.

Could it be that for many Huckabee’s concession speech for many people had the same effect as Ronald Reagan’s 1976 Convention speech?
