What Will Liberals Do To The Screwtape Reports? Open Trackbacks Thread

Posted by Adam Graham in : Open Trackbacks

I’m going to get the Open Trackback post, but first something kind of unusual:

As I detailed here my book has ended up a prize in a Blog Awards vote between five of the top leftist blogs in the Blogosphere:

Daily Kos
Talking Points Memo
Crooks and Liars
Firedog Lake
Wonkette

As I see it, there are six possibilities:

1) Conversion

-The keen satire and wit will be too much and they’ll abandon their liberal ways, sell all their Barbara Streisand stuff on ebay and-okay, that’s not going to happen.

2) Love It

-Well, despite their left wing sense of political correctness, Screwtape will give them a chuckle or two. They’ll catch the parts of the book that are true of their own party and with their inate sense of humor and ability to laugh at themselves they’ll go ahead and reccomend it for some fun and interesting reading material.

3) Critique It

-No, they’ll not just critique, they’ll eviscerate it. They’ll put it through the blender, they’ll come up with a list of a dozen problems with the satire and will find out the truth that I’m taking money from the CIA to blog in order to help facilitate Bush’s war on terror, so that he can fund Osama bin-Laden while using the Patriot Act to stop gay marriage and require voluntary abortion and a 24 hour waiting period for prayer in school. Or is it the other way around? Does it matter? It’ll work out the same, and help book sales just the same.

4) Flush It Down the Toilet

-They’ll flush it down the toilet and word will spread through the Internet. Conservatives will riot in Salt Lake City, killing several other Conservatives in retaliation. Or wait-I think I’ve got the wrong group for that.

5) Burn It At the Next MoveOn.Org Rally

-They hate it so much, they won’t be able to come up with an intelligent response, so they decide to go ahead and burn it on C-Span live at the next MoveOn.org rally. The fire gets quickly out of hand as Washington, DC burns to the ground. In a press release from DNC Chairman, Howard Dean, George W. Bush is blamed for the blaze.

6) Put It On Their Bookshelf

The fate worse than death. They graciously accept delivery and I send them the copy of the book. They admire the cool cover art and shove it on the bookshelf where it sits for years and years until finally they decide to move somewhere where they can by a home, rather than the overtaxed area they’ve made their local city into and give it to a thrift store.

Its then bought by a ten year old child who thinks its a coloring book, but after drawing a mustache and horns, gets bored with the book and leaves it in his room. His mom picks it up and puts it in a box which ends up upstairs for the next 30 years until they clean out the attic, during which time, its eaten by mice, and mildewed.

Also, vote for this option if you think they’ll refuse to look at the book.

Adam: you forgot an option. A certain percentage are likely to suffer serious injuries when their worldview collides with reality while moving at top speed. Did you put a warning label on this book? You could put more liberals in the hospital than the last State of the Union address. Fortunately, they’re not an endangered species.

Well, I wouldn’t worry about the liberals most are too narrow minded to read my book. ;)
