Whither the Bush Approval Map

Our buddy Radical Russ, has put great stock in Survey USA’s numbers in creating his Bush Approval Map but DJ Drummond at Wizbang Politics explains Survey USA’s flaw.

Chief among them are flawed samples, doing a survey of 600 adults (rather than registered or likely voters), and using TV station polls with their notoriously bad methodologies. Meanwhile, a commenter pointed out that Rasmussen showed Bush’s approval up to 45%.

    SurveyUSA polls are conducted entirely by SurveyUSA and minimally weighted to match the demographic characteristics of the population being surveyed. Our media sponsors for each poll are simply the SurveyUSA clients in that state.

    You’ve got a weight 38% approval rating for Bush and Rasmussen’s around 45%. Doing a poll of “Adults” is poor methodology. Thanks for stopping in and registering.
