Who’s Minding the Blog Weekend Open Trackbacks for February 10-12, 2006
Posted by Adam Graham in : Open TrackbacksI’ve good news for me and bad news for you, the loyal reader.
First of all, the good news for me, I won a trip to Cancun and will be in Mexico from May 7-11! The bad news for you is that:
1) I’m unlikely to have much Internet access.
2) Even if I do, I’m unlikely to have much blogging time.
Now, as a blog that’s had a post every day since mid-July, consistency is very important to me and I’m sure it is to my readers. I want to make sure that readers are provided quality stuff.
Last time, I went on vacation, my blog sat dormant for a week. As my only regular readers were Mom and Radical Russ, that was acceptable. Now, I’m getting around 200 hits a day and with the growth I’ve been experiencing, that could be up to 300 by the time I leave in May, its simply not acceptable to leave the blog dormant. Yes, I could probably recover trafficwise and readerwise from leaving it dormant, but I see no reason to do so when there’s a much more attractive option.
So therefore, I’m opening things up with a call for Guest Bloggers for the week of May 7-May 12th (I’m not going to be much blogging good my first day back on the 12th.)
So here’s what I want (ideally):
1) 3 Top Dogs
I’m looking for moderators. Folks I trust to manage this blog and keep things running smoothly while I’m away. They basically will be Governors of the Blog, handling basic routine stuff such as making sure guest bloggers behave and:
(optional) Posting the Mid-Week Open Trackbacks thread.
(really optional) Deleting Comment and Trackback Spam. [I can do this when I get home.]
(truly optional) Taking Care of Linkfest Haven [I could just post a whole week's worth of Linkfests posts before I go.]
They would also be Guest Bloggers themselves and would receive huge kudos from me and would have their blogs promoted at the top of the sidebar while I’m gone as well as getting props.
2) Guest Bloggers
This is your opportunity to get your message out to a wider Audience. Adam’s Blog has been consistently getting anywhere between 150-250 hits per day and has ranked in the top 800 of the TTLB Ecosystem for weeks. I get indexed by search engines fairly well. Bloggers from blogs of all sizes and experience level are welcome and even non-bloggers can try their hand at guest blogging.
You can cross-post stuff from another blog including “Best of Me” type stuff or you can write fresh content. Its up to you.
Also, if you want to try podcasting, you can have access to my podcast and its base of subscribers. (Limit: 1 Podcaster per night.)
Blog Posts can be about anything you want with the following exceptions:
1) No porn, sexually revealing pictures, or sexual content.
2) No profanity.
3) No attacking the Christian Faith, or its tenets. Particular religious figures excluding people I consider personal friends (Brandi Swindell and Bryan Fischer are off limits.) are fair game.
4) Keep focused on issues and not personalities.
I’ll consider bloggers across the idealogical spectrum to fill the task. If you’re interested, e-mail me. You’ll get your own sign on for Adam’s Blog and posting privileges while I’m away.
Now, on with the party:
Now, welcome to today’s open post/open trackbacks thread. There’s two things you can do through Sunday(trackbacks received after Midnight MT, Sunday night will not be linked to) to get your link on this page:
1) Post about anything that’s in good taste. No porn, no spam, no profanity.
2) Send me a trackback of any tasteful post you want and as soon as I check my blog, I’ll update this post with your link provided you link back to this thread.
Remember every Trackback and comment between now and when we hit 20,000 visitors is an entry to win a free “Screwtape Reports” e-book.

Cancun has the best beaches . However , depending on which part of the beach you are on the rip tides can be quite strong. But the water is amazing .
Cancun also offers some of the best side trips.
Chichén Itzá and Xel-ha are my favorites. Which resort will you be staying at ? They probably do have Internet access but why would you spend anytime doing that when you will be in paradise? Enjoy.
I’m headed off to the Caribbean with the family in April. Unfortunately it’s going to just be a laid back beach vacation as there are not the amazing diversions you are going to be offered in Cancun. Do you know the hotel at which you will be staying? Also, how did you manage to win a trip like that?

I don’t remember the resort name immedately. I’ll e-mail you privately when I get home. As to how I won the trip: very good performance at my day job.

Adam: I’m not sure I look enough like a dog to fill the shoes, but I’ll be glad to give you my best “woof” if you’re interested in a slightly larger mammal helping out while you’re away. Consider this an offer to guest blog (or blog and post the OTPs and maintain the Linkfest Haven blog) while you’re out of town. Randomyak@gmail.com if you need to get in touch with me once you stop laughing.
