Why Politicians Shouldn’t Listen to TV Pundits

Posted by Adam Graham in : Presidential Race 2008

Mort Kondrake has offered some advice to John McCain:

MORTON KONDRACKE: Two new McCain Veep ideas: first, he should offer the Vice-Presidency to Colin Powell, who may well not take it. If not Powell, then Christie Todd Whitman, former governor of New Jersey. Rush Limbaugh would go Krakatoa but independents will like it, women will like it, and so will African-Americans, the whole package.

Powell is someone the liberal media loves because of his ability to attack the GOP base. Given his statement about possibly not voting Republican this year, I think we can put him aside for the moment.

Christie Todd Whitman is a liberal who barely won her two terms as Governor of New Jersey. The first time she did it by apparent suppression of the black vote. Not certain that African Americans would go for that type of candidate.

If McCain wants to go this route, he should go all the way: Hillary Clinton. She’d attract a larger share of Democratic and Independent votes, and anyone who would accept Whitman or Powell would accept her.

Meanwhile, Conservatives will be left wandering asking, “Dude, where’s my party?”

Pundits are beginning to speculate on how they can sabotage McCain. Meanwhile, the truth is only just beginning to come out about Barack Obama. See:

Dinosaur, mentioning Canada when I complain about the national GOP reminds me of the saying, “I complained that I had no shoes until I met the man who had no feet.” My sympathy.
