Why This Course?

Welcome to Victory 2008. This is the first of eight lessons in this class for conservatives who seek to achieve victory. To get anything out of this class, that has to be your goal.

For many Conservatives, victory is not the goal. This is not to say that they want to see our ideas defeated. Far from it. They simply view the achievement of our ideals as an impossibility. To actually end the practice of abortion-on-demand or abolish the federal income tax code seems too fantastical a notion for these well-intentioned conservatives.

While one must concede that at this time, it is quite impossible to gain many conservative objectives, the fault of our conservative movement today is not that we haven’t succeeded but that we have no plans to succeed. There is no roadmap; there is no blueprint. We are a movement adrift which seems to take two steps backward for every step we take forward.

The purpose of this course is to begin to provide a blueprint for Conservative victory. This course is for Conservatives who are sick and tired of getting kicked in the teeth by liberals and stabbed in the back by their own leadership. It is the intention and purpose of this course to give Conservatives new leaders who understand the political structure and are not intimidated by it.

In this class, we will begin with the very general and move towards the specific. The next lesson will begin with a brief overview of America’s problems, particularly those caused or aggravated by government action.

After this, we’ll turn to politics as a means of achieving national change and discuss its limitation as a tool for change and what actions must accompany political action in order to effect positive change.

Then we turn to the nitty-gritty of taking over the political structure of the United States. We’ll begin by talking about how to bring about necessary changes in the Republican Party. For reasons that I’ll go into later, I believe that the Republican Party is still the best vehicle for Conservative political change.

After this, we’ll discuss how we can grow the conservative base without compromising key conservative principles, while also increasing the number of conservatives in State Houses and in Congress.

Once we have discussed all the ways to build a prosperous and successful conservative movement, we’ll turn to the ultimate end of this class, preparing Conservatives for the 2008 presidential campaign. In 2008, President Bush will be term-limited out of office. Vice-President Cheney will be 67 and he already has had a lot of health problems. I very seriously doubt that he would attempt a run for the Presidency. This means that in 2008, we will have an open field for the Presidency. Now, if things go the way they have gone in the past, a lot of party big wigs will meet in a room or through e-mail and phone calls and they’ll decide who the next Republican nominee is going to be. But, if we, as Conservatives take the initiative, we can give a Conservative a fighting chance in what will be a very difficult process.

Although the focus is on politics, the last lesson will focus on extra-political cultural actions which are vital to this nation's survival.

The grading for this course will be geared towards hands-on assignments rather than exams. There will be only two exams and two quizzes in this course. The knowledge in this course is more practical and hands on rather than academic and trivial and the assignments in this course will reflect that.

One of the first assignments will ask you to introduce yourself and explain why you’re interested in politics. I think that I should do this myself as we close this first lesson.

My political life began in 1992 when I helped my parents do a literature drop for the pro-life movement prior to Election Day. I did another literature drop in 1994 for the same group and also helped contact candidates for office in order to obtain their views on abortion.

In 1996, I became fascinated by the presidential campaign of Alan Keyes. I believed that he would be a good president. Two weeks before the primary, I found that no one was doing anything to get Dr. Keyes on the ballot. So with my trusty clipboard and a few good pens, I set out to get Dr. Keyes on Montana’s primary ballot. I contacted some people to ask for their help and got very little follow-through. I managed to gather 500 + signatures on my own. I may have been able to gather more if I hadn’t lived in a small town with only four thousand people in the area.

1998 marked my own premature entry into elective politics as I waged a wholly unsuccessful write-in campaign for Lincoln County (Montana) Treasurer. I managed to garner 4% of the vote in my first campaign.

In 1998, I was also laying the groundwork for Alan Keyes’ Montana Presidential campaign. I lined up six legislators behind Dr. Keyes before he even announced. We got this number up to twelve current or former legislators by the end of the campaign. I also set about to better-organize a petition drive. I did receive some help in my efforts, though 90% of the signatures came from my own personal efforts to get Dr. Keyes on the ballot. This happened by spending a lot of time in all kinds of weather conditions in front of the library, post offices, and grocery stores. The winter weather in 2000 didn’t stop me and I kept on working until Dr. Keyes was placed on the primary ballot.

I don’t say this to brag. I say this for an important reason. I’m tired of working my rear end off and losing. The sacrifice that is made by conservative volunteers in politics is great and I think that we deserve nothing less than clear, principled victory for all of our hard work. For this purpose, this class was born.

This is the end of the sample. If you want more, sign up today . The class is only $10 and will provide the key to achieving Conservative victory. Please help support this class.
